It’s not exactly news that people say hateful things on Twitter. Celebrities do it so often that they keep our site in business. Sometimes politicians do it and get in trouble, but this has to be the first time we’ve seen such hateful snark from the official account of the Democratic Party itself.
Generally speaking, it’s not a good idea to use your official outlets to claim that everyone who disagrees with you is a bigoted, uncaring luddite. It makes you look like lying partisan hacks with no grip on reality. Yet, somewhere in their twisted minds, the social media professionals paid to manage this feed think it’s a good strategy to come across as angry, arrogant, condescending jerks.
Either that, or an intern is in big trouble right now.
