Biden: who knew what a supply chain was? Normal people: pretty much everyone?

President Biden addressed a crowd in Michigan today and apparently thought that the attendees (and the rest of America, come to think of it) had no idea what a supply chain was ten years ago:

Well…we can start with anyone who’s ever worked at a job or consumed anything that was dependent on the, you know, supply chain. Which is pretty much most people. When the supply chain breaks down, it effects everyone.

It’s not exactly a complicated thought process. If the materials required to manufacture are unavailable or difficult to transport, the goods don’t get made or shipped. If the goods don’t get made or shipped, the wholesalers have nothing to supply. If the wholesalers have nothing to supply, the retailers have nothing to sell. If the retailers have nothing to sell, then the consumer has nothing to buy. And when all of this is happening, the workers who are reliant on the smooth operation of the supply chain may find themselves out of a job.

So yea, a lot of people know what the supply chain is and how it works, and have for a long time.

The key phrase here being “every working adult”.

Apparently, yes.

That does indeed seem to be the case.

What ARE those 18 wheelers doing on the road? It’s a real mystery.

It certainly didn’t go unnoticed that some members of the crowd probably are VERY familiar with the supply chain:

Indeed.
