Cowboys' Jerry Brown killed in apparent drunk driving accident, Josh Brent arrested; Will Bob Costas call for prohibition?

Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent was arrested today on a charge of intoxication manslaughter after a car accident this morning in Irving, Texas, took the life of practice-squad player Jerry Brown, a passenger in Brown’s car.

USA Today reports:

Per a police statement, Brent was driving his car at a high rate of speed at 2:21 a.m. when he hit the outside curb on Route 114, causing the vehicle to flip at least once and then come to rest in the middle of a service road. Brown, a linebacker who was signed to the practice squad in October, was a passenger in the car. Brown was unresponsive on the scene and transferred to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Despite the tragedy, the Cowboys are scheduled to play Sunday in Cincinnati, and in light of last weekend’s gun-control sermon following the murder-suicide involving the Chiefs’ Jovan Belcher, some are wondering if another stern half-time lecture is in store from a certain sportscaster.
