It looks like IRS Commissioner John Koskinen will wriggle out of impeachment for now

As Twitchy reported, some legislators weren’t happy to hear that IRS Commissioner John Koskinen had paid a visit to Capitol Hill to meet with Republicans and lobby against his impeachment on charges of destruction of evidence and making false statements under oath.

Koskinen made some headway with more moderate representatives, but members of the more conservative Republican Study Committee, chaired by Rep. Bill Flores, were insistent that Koskinen had to go for his role in the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups for extra scrutiny.

Although it appeared earlier Wednesday night that the House would vote Thursday on whether to proceed with the impeachment process, Fox News’ Chad Pergram reports that the House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing next week.

Pergram tweeted earlier that of the four articles of impeachment against Koskinen, two had been kept deliberately vague to make them difficult to vote against.
