Remember the #StandWithWendy hashtag from 2013? Then-Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis had promised to speak for 13 hours to prevent a bill restricting most abortions past 20 weeks from moving to a vote before the legislative session expired.
Davis’s nearly 11-hour filibuster brought national attention to Texas’ debate over late-term abortion, but it also brought attention to Davis herself. That led to a run for Texas governor, a race that imploded spectacularly. Now, it looks like the consolation prize will be a Hollywood movie starring Sandra Bullock.
