About Kavanaugh working “to shield Trump from any litigation or criminal proceeding related to the special counsel’s investigation” … that idea was floated by CNN’s Jim Acosta earlier today, but Christopher J. Scalia, son of former Justice Antonin Scalia, has already stepped forward to dismiss the idea as nonsense — not that it won’t get traction among progressives.

The reason many on the left interpret it to mean that Kav would protect Trump comes down to the familiar differences about a judge's job: they believe judges *should* make law; they would want their own favored nominees to do so, and they project that desire onto all judges. /3
