School district that wants to have difficult conversations on race holding separate Zoom sessions for white parents and parents of color

We’ve been seeing the move toward neo-segregation growing for a few years now. We’re old enough to remember back in 2016 when black students at Oberlin College demanded the creation of black-only “safe spaces” across the campus. Now we’re hearing plenty about school districts holding “anti-racist” training sessions for white teachers to prevent the “spirit murder” of their black students.

This isn’t the first example we’ve seen of a school district holding separate Zoom sessions for white parents and parents of color, but it seems odd for the district to want to have “difficult by necessary discussions” about race in the wake of the Derek Chauvin verdict and the Ma’Khia Bryant shooting by splitting up the audience by race.

It’s possible. We’ve been assured about mixed marriages that “you shouldn’t assume someone isn’t racist just because they own a minority sex servant.”

The one for white parents, because Asian Americans use white supremacist thinking to get ahead in school.

Why is it even “very necessary to have space for our families to discuss and process”?
