The January 6 select committee is holding a primetime hearing Thursday night, and if the first primetime broadcast is any indication, will attract fewer viewers than those tuned in for the 6 p.m. news. We’ve been promised big things, but we’ve also been promised a second season. You see, so much evidence is pouring in that they just can’t wrap things up now.
The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol plans to hold more public hearings in September, the panel's chairman, Rep. Bennie Thompson, says during tonight's opening remarks.

It’s official: there were will be more Jan. 6 hearings in September.
Liz Cheney says it’s because the “dam has begun to break.”
“Our committee will spend August pursuing and merging information on multiple fronts before convening in September,” she said.
