Heartbreaking: Missouri law will prevent 19-year-old from witnessing her father's execution

Missourians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty has brought us the sad story of a 19-year-old girl who’s too young, under state law, to witness executions, including that of her father.

A 19-year-old Missouri woman can’t be a witness to her father’s execution after a judge ruled Friday that a state law barring her from being present because of her age was constitutional.

The American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit this week on behalf of Khorry Ramey asking a federal court to allow her to attend her father’s planned execution Tuesday.

Kevin Johnson, 37, has been in prison since Ramey was 2 for the 2005 killing of William McEntee, a police officer in Kirkwood, Missouri.

Johnson was 19 at the time of the crime — a parallel that isn’t lost on his supporters.

“It’s ironic that Kevin was 19 years old when he committed this crime and they still want to move forward with this execution, but they won’t allow his daughter who’s 19 at this time in because she’s too young,” Johnsons’ lawyer, Shawn Nolan, told reporters Friday.

So Kevin Johnson was 19 years old with a 2-year-old child when he killed a cop.

Insofar as this man got his brother killed as an indirect result of his criminal actions and then murdered a police officer and father of three in cold blood and admits to the murder, my sympathies rest with the children of Sergeant William McEntee.

He admitted to the unprovocked murder of a police officer. Shooting him 4 times, then a final 2 in the head to make sure he was dead, leaving his own 3 children without a father.

Kevin Johnson executed a police officer by putting two bullets into his head after shooting him multiple times. This is nothing more than a blatant attempt to try and politicize a vicious murderer finally receiving justice.

It sounds to us like just another legal move to push back the execution while they wait for the governor to grant clemency.

Yeah, we’re not heartbroken. Well, we are sorry if this killer is the only father figure this girl has in her life — that’s the real shame.
