Is Sen. John Fetterman not well enough to perform 'America's easiest job'?

Our purpose here isn’t to kick around Sen. John Fetterman, who as you know hospitalized himself with depression this week. No, our purpose is to name and shame those who tried to shame us by asking during the 2020 campaign if Fetterman, having had a stroke, was up to the job of senator. We were told that it was “ableist” to even suggest such a thing — how many senators wear hearing aids? — and the media has been shamed even this week for suggesting that Fetterman has “special” needs, not just “needs.”

Jennifer Senior announced Friday she’s published a piece on Fetterman for The Atlantic:

Keep that in mind: politics is “an Iron Man triathlon” of public obligations.

An “absurdly demanding job.”

Remember that last October, Fetterman told MSNBC’s Joy Reid, “‘I will be much, much better in January, but Oz will still be a fraud.” Well, it’s February, and Fetterman’s not “much, much better” as promised.

Now to the shaming: Here’s David Sirota also last October saying that basically a monkey could do Fetterman’s job:

It’s a triathlon … it’s absurdly demanding … it’s America’s easiest job.

He used to work on Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign, so he must know something about the job. Maybe that’s how he learned how easy it is.
