I say this all the time, but the last time I traveled overseas was on a trip to London. It was fabulous, and I keep telling myself I'd like to go back. But I'd like to go back to July 2001. It's been so disappointing to see the direction the United Kingdom has gone. Unfettered immigration from Muslim countries, knife crimes, and being thrown in jail over a Facebook meme are just a few of the delights that await. Hell, England even threatened to extradite Elon Musk and arrest him over his posts on X about the Southport riots.
Here's another crazy story out of the U.K. A woman is going to prison for 17 years for killing her rapist.
At 18, Martyna Ogonowska got 17 years for stabbing a man who was violently sexually assaulting her - appeal denied.

The Guardian reports:
A woman who stabbed a man to death as he sexually assaulted her has lost an appeal against her 17-year jail term.
Martyna Ogonowska was handed a life sentence aged 18 after being convicted of the 2018 murder of Filip Jaskiewicz, 23, in a Peterborough car park, using a knife she said she carried for self protection.
Sentencing her at Cambridge crown court in 2019, Judge Farrell QC told Ogonowska that Jaskiewicz “undoubtedly touched you sexually and was violent to you shortly before he was killed”. But he said it did not qualify as self-defence because Ogonowska, who he accepted suffered from some mental disability and had experienced previous trauma, had taken a knife to the scene.
The U.K. is very serious about knives (and ninja swords). You're not supposed to have a knife. You're supposed to dispose of it in one of the handy knife disposal bins around London. U.K. police have raided charity shops and confiscated knives (and a rusty spoon as well).
It did not qualify as self-defense.
