Tim Miller: Evangelicals Got What They Voted For — Deportation of Brown Christians

I'm not an evangelical, and I doubt that The Bulwark's Tim Miller is either. But he's a scold just like David French. I don't know Miller's religious beliefs, but he believes that evangelicals got what they wanted when a pastor's wife was deported. What did they want? "Indiscriminate" deportation of Christians who followed immigration laws, but were guilty of being brown."

Here's the news story that triggered Miller:

The post continues:

That didn't stop ICE from deporting her back to Mexico, "With only the clothes on her back."

Agents refused to take her to a court where she could plead her case saying, "That's not our job."

Maria Isidro was approved for an I-130—also called a Petition for Alien Relative—to secure her legal status in 2023.

Hooray! An illegal being deported for being guilty of being brown!

Homeland Security stepped in with a fact-check:

The post continues:

… self-deport and leave the U.S. for more than two decades, ICE arrested her on June 3, 2025, and deported her on June 11, 2025.

Any allegations that Isidro did not receive medical care are FALSE. ICE provides comprehensive medical care from the moment an alien enters custody. DHS takes its commitment to promoting safe, secure, humane environments for those in our custody very serious.

"Leaving severe bruising" … according to whom? Her daughters?

Playing the Christian card is a cheap way to avoid any actual discussion.

I see from DHS's post that People Magazine has gotten in on the narrative.

Americans voted for mass deportation of all illegals, regardless of their faith or skin color.

But you're not going to hear it from People or The Bulwark.

The Christian card and the "guilty of being brown" card are no longer accepted.
