Again, I admit to not being a biblical scholar, but I know a little. I just finished up a post about Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara, explaining from the pulpit that Mary and Joseph were considered outsiders, just like Minnesota's immigrant community, and were forced to sleep in a barn. He's put together a volunteer corps to take meals to people who are afraid to leave their houses for some reason.
A week or two ago, I did a piece on all of the churches that are getting creative with their Nativity scenes. One has baby Jesus missing, replaced with an ICE WAS HERE sign. Another has the Christ child in zip-ties, "because that actually happened in our city." Another has ICE agents crashing the party. And another one has the entire Holy Family missing, explaining that they'd gone into hiding inside the church.
All I can say is, please stop comparing Mary and Joseph to refugees or the homeless.
Senator Cory Booker looked at the ICE WAS HERE Nativity scene and called it "a powerful message," and a reminder that we are all God's children. I don't see why all of God's children have a right to enter the United States illegally. But that's what the Democrats would have us do: nothing. Ignore the illegals that are here, regardless of their criminal histories, and reopen the border the next time a Democrat president is in the White House.

It's not a powerful message . It's stupid. Jesus wasn't an illegal alien in Judea. He was a citizen. Born mind you while his mother was on her way to be counted in the census. Before you try to use Christianity as a political tool you should probably go to a Bible study or two.

Churches are not to be political activists. Besides, a church putting something like this in a nativity just demonstrates they have lost the Advent story. The fact that you repost it means you don't have a clue about the Advent story either. My God your staff is stupid or atheist

I've really had enough of people hijacking the Christmas story to say they don't want anyone deported, no matter what. That's their solution to illegal immigration — just ignore it. Keep handing out benefits and driver's licenses, and Social Security numbers.
