Bench warrant issued for Charles Rogers

In 2003, wide receiver Charles Rogers was on-top of the sports world. He was selected #2 overall in the NFL draft by the Detroit Lions and experts were already mentioning him with some of the best WRs to ever come out of college. He was considered a cant-miss, once in a lifetime prospect who was guaranteed to be a superstar.

Fast forward to today and all of those predictions look silly. After multiple opportunities, Rogers was never able to live up to his on-the-field potential. His numerous off-the-field problems didn’t help matters.

Today the 31-year-old had a bench warrant issued against him for failing to appear in court.

A judge has issued a bench warrant for Charles Rogers, the former Saginaw High School star athlete and former Detroit Lions wide receiver now accused of threatening to kill his mother, after Rogers failed to appear for court Wednesday.

Rogers, 31, was scheduled to appear for a 10:15 a.m. pre-trial hearing to determine whether his case would proceed to its scheduled June 19 trial date.
