West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey walked back his initial post, announcing the deaths, citing conflicting reports.

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed the men were still alive and in critical condition.

At a briefing Wednesday afternoon, FBI Director Kash Patel said the two National Guard members who were shot in Washington D.C. are in critical condition.

Patel said the crime will be treated at the federal level as an assault on a federal law enforcement officer.

He asked all to pray for them and their families.
