'Rendered helpless, again': After deadly Fort Hood shooting, MTV host decries gun-free zones

Fort Hood implemented expanded restrictions on personal firearms following Nidal Hasan’s murderous rampage in 2009, according to The Washington Post. As on other military posts, only security and law enforcement personnel are allowed to carry weapons.

Count MTV host and reality star Chet Cannon among those noting that a “gun-free zone” can’t and won’t stop a murder spree. 

The Fort Hood shooter, identified as Spc. Ivan Lopez, reportedly killed three people and wounded 16 others before committing suicide.
