RFK Presented His Competition a Gift Wrapped with a Giant Red Bow When He Chose Nicole Shanahan as His VP

Yesterday, I predicted the Kennedy campaign may have ended with just one announcement. Twitter pundits seem underwhelmed with the selection of Nicole Shanahan as his Vice President. What could have been a big get for his chances, not only fizzled, but seemed to actively undermine his campaign.

She's pretty, smart, and rich, but most people can't relate to that. Perhaps a Kennedy can't understand that.

Unfortunately, 'disaffected' Republicans are not likely to be interested in a woman further to the Left than Kennedy. If the goal was a 'unification ticket', she was absolutely the wrong pick.

Nicole Shanahan, independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s running mate, has a long history of donating to soft-on-crime causes, including leading a foundation that spent big on groups opposed to mandatory minimum prison sentences and supporting the removal of police from schools.

The 38-year-old, who has spoken about her involvement with criminal justice reformers in San Francisco, is the founder and president of the Bia-Echo Foundation, which has contributed more than $11.6 million to left-wing causes, according to a review of receipts by The Post.

The bulk of that money, $10 million, went to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, which passed the cash to organizations advocating for lighter prison terms and supporting lawyers representing illegal migrants in the US.

Much like the ex wife of the other rich billionaire, Bill Gates, Shanahan has long donated to very far Left causes supporting illegal immigration and soft on crime policies. Again, not a powerful stance for a woman trying to woo right leaning voters.

Unlike most who opine on this topic, I also think it helps Joe Biden. Democrats who were looking for a lucid candidate are probably not enthused by Shanahan, either. She has no experience in politics and having a Vice President with no grasp of governing is a bit concerning.

Even 'Team Kennedy' supporters on-line instantly felt the tides change after the announcement. There was so much excitement for a candidate who broke the norms, but also was trustworthy. Voters hoped for a person like Mike Rowe. He has credibility and is a trusted voice. That was the kind of unity candidate so many dreamed of. At the end of the day, however, Kennedy, is well, a Kennedy. If you think I'm going to make a joke like 'Kennedys love women, after all', I'm not, even though it's funny. He's a Kennedy in the sense he's a Democrat and Democrats are Leftists. All in all, Donald Trump and Joe Biden should send Kennedy an edible arrangement as thanks for his choice. It was really that bad.
