A few days ago, I told you about Kentucky child killer, Ronald Exantus, being released from prison after only eight years and heading to Florida to serve out his supervised probation. This was very concerning to me as he was moving about 30 minutes from me. The jury found Exantus was mentally ill when he murdered the child, and I assume he behaved in jail because he was on medication. Unfortunately, many times very mentally ill people stop taking those meds once they are no longer institutionalized and I did not want that unmedicated man running around Florida.
This is where competence comes in. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced today Exantus had been arrested here in Florida because he failed to register as a felon. He has been arrested again and he is now on his way back to Kentucky. Vaya con Dios, and don't come back.

What Kentucky could not get done (I'm assuming because they have a Democratic Governor and he was just glad he was no longer going to be their problem), Florida took care of in a few days. He's back in custody where he belongs and he's once again Andy Beshear's problem.

I've never been happier to see a mugshot. I am all about second chances and rehabilitation, but not for child murderers, rapists or pedophiles. I fully believe that's a one and done crime and you should stay in jail if you commit those atrocities. They got the child killer that the Kentucky parole board let back out on the streets! Insanity should not be a measure to determine guilt/innocence, but rather a bellwether to help decide facility type if convicted.
Exactly right. If someone is accused of murder, there should be a guilt/innocence trial. If they are adjudicated guilty, then the jury can decide if they are 'insane'. If they are, they should go to a facility and serve all of the time they would have served for murder there. It should not be a get out of jail free card, Sorry.
