Vietor's Myanmar Meltdown: Trump’s USAID Cuts Blamed for Dead Kids, China & Qatar Too Busy With Cash

Former Obama bro Tommy Vietor claims children are dying in Myanmar because President Trump cut back on USAID.

Mohammed Taher clutched the lifeless body of his 2-year-old son and wept. Ever since his family’s food rations stopped arriving at their internment camp in Myanmar in April, the father had watched helplessly as his once-vibrant baby boy weakened, suffering from diarrhea and begging for food.

On May 21, exactly two weeks after Taher’s little boy died, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio sat before Congress and declared: “No one has died” because of his government’s decision to gut its foreign aid program. Rubio also insisted: “No children are dying on my watch.”

That, Taher says, “is a lie.”

“I lost my son because of the funding cuts,” he says. “And it is not only me — many more children in other camps have also died helplessly from hunger, malnutrition and no medical treatment.”

Taher’s grief is echoed in families across conflict-ravaged Myanmar, where the United Nations estimates 40% of the population needs humanitarian assistance and which once counted the U.S. as its largest humanitarian donor. Now, in Asia, it has become the epicenter of the suffering unleashed upon the world’s most vulnerable by President Donald Trump’s dismantling of the U.S. Agency for International Development.

So, apparently, Tommy believes America is solely responsible for feeding all the children in the world. Are there no other countries capable of helping the children of Myanmar? I’ve seen pictures of Qatar, and it looks like they’re thriving. I’ve heard about the stunning sights in China—can’t they step up to help Myanmar’s kids? What about Canada, Norway, Sweden, or Switzerland? I’m told these are generous, admirable countries that America should emulate. Yet, it seems they don’t have a single morsel to spare.

Also, the Left—like Tommy and Barack Obama—seems to have a deep disdain for America. Every other breath is a complaint about this country, claiming it was founded on stolen land. Americans are told we shouldn’t be proud of our nation or heritage, and waving the flag is somehow tied to white supremacy. If someone doesn’t kneel during the National Anthem, they’re branded a racist. Yet, this supposedly terrible country is expected to feed the entire world? Something doesn’t add up.

If indeed these countries cannot survive without the United States, should we not be in charge of them? Perhaps if they came under the control of the United States government, they could be mentored and eventually run their own country in such a way they can feed their own citizens.

Exactly, this. The American government has an obligation to the children of America. Beyond that, it is pure charity and should never be expected.
