I admit I am one of those people who used to get annoyed when a child was loud during church services and the parents didn't remove them. When my own kids were little, the minute they made a peep, my Mom would head out with them. We were hyper aware to ensure my kids weren't interrupting the service. I believed every parent should do the same.
Then, one day I was reading a post by my cousin who is a priest in the CEC, a three streams church. He told me children in church should never bother me. In fact, it should give me the opposite reaction. I should rejoice when I hear noisy children. That means parents are bringing their kids to church when it is easier to stay home. I should love the gurgling sounds of babies and their little coos because that means the church is alive and there will be people to carry on in the next generation. He told me we should be happy about loud churches because that means the church is alive!
A quiet church full of adults only is a dying church. Oop! That stopped me in my tracks and really changed my point of view. When I read this new 'policy' from a church in York, PA, I had to heartily agree.

To be fair, Jesus was all about children and actually said we all needed to become more child like. So, maybe we should be child centered.
