One of our favorite refrains from the left whenever a Democrat is in the White House is that 'the adults are back in charge.' Oh, they just LOVE their credentialed 'experts, don't they? Even if those experts don't have the common sense of a day-old chicken.
Take former Obama ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul. His résumé reads like a leftist wet dream. He studied at Stanford AND in the Soviet Union (huge bonus points there), and was a Rhodes Scholar. He is a professor of International Studies at his California alma mater, as well as a director and fellow of think tanks filled with other experts. Before becoming ambassador, he served on Obama's National Security Council.
In short, McFaul is better than us in every way, so we should always listen to him and agree with him.
Except that McFaul is also, apparently, as dumb as a box of rocks.
Earlier today, he tried to dunk on the Trump administration regarding recalcitrant Europeans who aren't helping enough in the war against Iran. He did so by asking and answering a question from recent military history.
And answering it 100 percent incorrectly.
Did we join the UK in support of their war against the Falkland Islands? no.
— Michael McFaul (@McFaul) April 3, 2026
There it is, folks. The 'expert' said no. How could we ever doubt his definitive statement on the Falklands War?
Well, we could start by informing McFaul that the UK never waged a war against the Falkland Islands. The war was against Argentina, which had invaded the historically British territory, claiming it as its own. You'd think a professor of International Studies would know that.
You'd be wrong.
The British were fighting against the Falkland Islands?
— Eddie Ki Yay! (@TarHeeled67) April 3, 2026
Are you sure?
The hilarious part is just how sure of himself and arrogant McFaul is in his ignorance.
But we'd also be wrong in thinking that McFaul knew how to use Google to look up all of the support the United States DID provide to the UK during the war.
Yes, we did.
— Bonchie (@bonchieredstate) April 3, 2026
We didn't carry out airstrikes directly (nor are we asking the UK to do so now).
But we happily gave them airbase usage, gave them arms shipments, and shared intelligence that was crucial to their victory.
We did not denounce them and throw up roadblocks. https://t.co/7Afq2oQ7Hz
Not only is this something McFaul should have known, given his alleged credentials, but it is public information that is accessible to him with a five-second search on that most wonderful of Al Gore inventions, the Internet.
We literally did. We gave over 200 sidewinder missiles. We provided satellite imagery and intelligence sharing, and the aviation fuel needed to sustain UK military operations and gave the United Kingdom the use of Ascension Island and we also offered to literally loan them the… https://t.co/UW9RQ3IQU8

It is almost impressive how consistently this “professor” showcases his ignorance, apparently without any awareness of how ridiculous he looks. The United States absolutely helped the United Kingdom win the Falklands War, so much so that the victory would not have been possible… https://t.co/LVWrw0LmAQ

... without the United States’ support. After initially trying to assist with negotiations, which failed, the United States provided critical military support, including advanced Sidewinder and Stinger missiles, intelligence, satellite imagery, and perhaps most importantly, access to the United States base on Ascension Island.
There's being wrong, and then there's just being stupid.
McFaul achieved both with a mere 15 words.
It takes real work and dedication to be this ignorant about history, so good for you, I guess.

Historically illiterate statement.

We should probably remember -- as we wonder how a former Russian ambassador could be this ill-informed -- that one of McFaul's greatest hits in the Obama administration was being the architect of the 'Russian reset' policy.
Maybe he's the one who gave Hillary Clinton that ridiculous red button.
McFaul was Obama's top man in Moscow.
— Sunny (@sunnyright) April 3, 2026
So you get to play the game of "Is he stupid or is he lying?" and neither has fun implications as to the credibility of the credentialed establishment. https://t.co/32HdjfyD9n
Say it with us, Twitchy readers: 'Embrace the power of 'AND.'
The Reagan administration provided:
— Peter Wrangel (@PeterWrangel) April 3, 2026
- AIM-9L Sidewinder missiles
- Signals intelligence and satellite imagery
- Logistical access at Ascension Island
- Fuel and other material support
Caspar Weinberger's support was so significant that he was later knighted by the Queen. https://t.co/puYU5vnxCy
In McFaul's defense, he was an undergrad at Stanford at the time of the war. So, we can be fairly confident that he learned nothing about current events during that time except 'Reagan Bad Man' and 'Thatcher Bad Woman.'
The war against the Falkland Islands...?

Pardon me, sir, can I ask what you do for a living? pic.twitter.com/1VQbojAgpW
His poor students. We can rest assured that they aren't learning anything in his classes, either, except possibly absorbing his hatred of the United States.
Imagine having this as your bio and not knowing the insane amount of intelligence support and armament that we gave the Brits. https://t.co/vOZ2z0aM7V pic.twitter.com/yaM0AHYn1b

We would find it shocking ... if it weren't so common among leftists, particularly those in academia.
Michael failed history class. https://t.co/bSMhP64bIp
— Amy Curtis (@RantyAmyCurtis) April 3, 2026
Well, he should have failed history class. But remember that this is Stanford we're talking about.
He likely got an A+ in gaslighting class.
Wow, your students should get refunds. https://t.co/bsPLf4JTHT

Stanford students pay close to $100,000 a year in tuition.
For this.

— Grune (@DerGruneMann) April 3, 2026
Speak very slowly. Also, bring crayons and puppets.
Even then, McFaul still won't get it. Because he doesn't want to.
— Sarah (@sarah_wxtx) April 3, 2026
Nope. He does not.
But we're glad he posted his ignorance (or deliberate lie) anyway.
It will give us an even bigger laugh the next time a Democrat tries to tell us that we need to put the adults back in charge.
