Not kosher: House's next stage of Sandy 'relief' is loaded with pork

Earlier this month, the House GOP scrapped a pork-laden Hurricane Sandy “relief” bill. Despite New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s outrage, many conservatives were relieved that the bill didn’t pass.

Ultimately, the House decided to tackle the relief bill in stages. It passed the first stage, $9.7 billion, on January 4. Conservatives were hopeful that this signified Congressional Republicans’ commitment to more thoroughly vetting future Sandy relief legislation; unfortunately, they may be in for major disappointment. Tomorrow, the House will be taking up the second stage of Sandy relief, and once again, the bill is bursting with pork:

Proposing legitimate Sandy-focused relief is one thing. But this isn’t really about helping Sandy victims; it’s about padding pork-starved pockets.

Our representatives need to send this monstrosity packing.
