As Twitchy reported, feminists flipped their lids when soon-to-be-crowned Miss USA Nia Sanchez suggested that women learn self-defense in order to help protect themselves from sexual assault. “She’s blaming the victim!” they said. “We should just teach men not to rape!” they said.
Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows that that’s bull. Sanchez, herself a fourth-degree black belt in taekwando, was absolutely right. The best way to defend yourself when your safety is threatened is to defend yourself. That’s not blaming or shaming the victim. That’s empowering them.
Libertarian blogger and activist Julie Borowski understands that, and she put together a video rebuttal to all the feverish pearl-clutching:
