The ACLU is not a serious organization for serious people. Here’s how you know:
That’s their response to the Supreme Court ruling in favor of a student who had been barred from her school’s cheerleading squad for a profanity-laced Snapchat post in response to not qualifying for the varsity team.
But there were plenty of indications before that that the ACLU is not a serious organization. This is just one of them:

For what it’s worth, Uber Eats has addressed the ACLU’s complaint directly:
We deeply apologize for the pain this caused Laine. We've made the change, however we should have done better here.
We recently updated our policies: delivery people can now choose to display their self-identified first name without requiring the display of their legal name.
