John Cornyn reportedly drops fence requirement from 'border security' amendment

The Cornyn amendment to the Gang of Eight amnesty bill was a sham even before this afternoon. Now, with Cornyn’s fence requirement reportedly dropped, it’s even more so.

Meanwhile, the kabuki goes on, as the usual suspects continue to pretend that the do-nothing Cornyn amendment is tough as nails:

A few days ago, talk radio host Hugh Hewitt wrote, “Border security means a fence to the vast majority of conservatives willing to support the reform bill. No fence, no support.”

We hope Hewitt is right, but we’re not so sure.
