Rep. Dina Titus uses nonsensical Statue of Liberty metaphor to slam GOP on immigration

We noted yesterday that Rep. Janice Hahn, D-California, was peddling bullcrap about the Statue of Liberty in a lamebrained effort to tout open borders policies.

We would be remiss if we didn’t point out that Rep. Dina Titus, D-Nevada, also invoked the Statue of Liberty Friday night. Her tweet (see above) depicts Lady Liberty with a blindfold on.

We gather this is Rep. Titus’ way of accusing House Republicans of turning a blind eye to the needs of illegal aliens from Central America.

Given that the GOP is trying to make immigration policy more discriminating, we don’t think the metaphor works very well.

The blindfolded Lady Liberty image is more apt as a description of the status quo — a system in which no one really knows who is entering our country or for what purpose.

A system, in other words, that does exactly what most Democrats want it to do.
