Back in 2000, Hillary Clinton stopped by The Late Show to tell some jokes, answer some softball questions, and…namedrop Donald Trump?
That’s weird.
In a top ten list called, “Reasons I, Hillary Clinton, Finally Decided to Appear on The Late Show,” Clinton named getting out of dinner with Donald Trump as the fifth reason she decided to make an appearance.
Other reasons included “If Dan Quayle did it, how hard can it be?” and “Four words: A severe lapse of judgment.”
(The real reason—to convince New Yorkers she deserved to represent a state in which she’d never lived and to which she had no personal ties—didn’t make the list.)

It’s funny how history repeats itself. Now that Donald Trump is her opponent, she has more reason than ever to go on fluffy talk shows instead of confronting him one on one.
